I Think it's Time to Lock up the Cabinets!

Wow! I think someone broke into Ella's room one night last week and installed a bigger engine in her little body. All of a sudden she is into everything and she's super fast!!! I guess with the speed comes harder falls and bigger bumps. Last weekend at Dana's baby shower she fell into the door and hit her face. We didn't really think much of it then, but turns out she got a shiner out of it. If you look really close at the picture where she is looking back, you can barely see it (it's her left eye.)

Anyway...here are some funny pictures of her getting into things. I tell you, the girl knows what the good stuff is!

Can't Somebody Slow Down The Time?

O-kay, so I know it sounds trite, but where has the time gone? My baby was 10 months old last weekend! It seems like I just gave birth this morning! (I said seems like, not feels like.) For those of y'all who don't already know the story of how little bit got here, I 'll give you a quick recap.

I went in for a "growth scan" ultrasound (I think Dr. Juno was thinking the baby was a little small) right after I clocked out from work on a Monday at 5 pm. The ultrasound tech looked forever, then finally asked me if I was leaking fluid. "Leaking fluid...how would I know?" Now that I think of it, that was a pretty stupid question, but I was nervous what can I say. So anyways Dr. Juno said I might as well just waddle across the hall and hop into a bed in the birthing center and plan to stay the night b/c my amniotic fluid was low. She said I was more than likely just dehydrated and she wanted to re-hydrate me with IV fluids throughout the night then recheck me in the morning and hopefully send me home. Well, long story short, I was pumped full with fluids, drank water till my eye balls were floating, pissed all night just to find out that my fluid level was exactly the same in the morning. So here comes Dr. Juno all chirpy saying "well, were gonna have a baby today!" Strangely, I wasn't all that nervous, I can't say the same for my mother, but that's another story. Well, Dr. Juno forgot to mention all the other fun stuff I had to do before I could start pushing. I had to wear a Cervidil (I'm sure that's misspelled) which is basically like a tampon used to thin your cervix, for 12 hours. Without going into details, it sucked! They told me if it came out we had to start all over. When that was over they started the pitocin to start my contractions. So, to sum it up, after all of the "pre-pushing" stuff, I didn't dilate and start pushing until Wednesday around 8:25 pm. Then the next thing you know, walla 8:42 pm - welcome the love of my life! I left out that I got my epidural early Wednesday morning and never felt a single contraction! It was so easy, but don't worry I know I was lucky and I'm so grateful for that.

Alright, so maybe that wasn't all that quick of a recap...sorry!

Back to time flying, I have been reminded daily by my CRAZY German neighbor that Ella will be 1 before we know it. She has also been reminding me that we HAVE to throw a big party, which she HAS to be invited to. If the next 2 months go by as fast as the last 10, I guess I better get to planning. So if anybody wants to meet the crazy German neighbor, and believe me you do, then come on over to the birthday bash! I'm sure she will steal the show!

Splashway Baby!

Howdy everybody...I just thought I would share some pictures from our day at Splashway last weekend. We went on Saturday with Krystal & Braxton and Ms. Lindsey & Logan and we had a blast! Ella loves the water and she was in heaven just floating round and round the lazy river. She loves to watch people, and let me tell you - there were plenty of people to watch.

If we weren't in the water, we were sitting at the picnic table stuffing our faces with all the goodies we took with us. Ella loves her some of Papaws beef jerky and crackers (that's my girl!)

Logan had a blast too! His favorite slide is the red one that is open on the top, and I bet he went down it 10 times! He also had lots of fun on the lilly pad rope thingie...whatever it's called. He was so good at it too, he out did kids twice his age. I personally think he is part monkey!

Braxton enjoyed the lazy river too and he and Ella spent some time rockin' the boat together.

All the kiddos were so cute and so exhausted when we finally left - Ella was passed smooth out about 2 minutes into the ride home.

Now that I have bragged on how cute and sweet Ella was...Let me show you her wicked step-sister! She has developed an ATTITUDE! I have no clue where it came from because her Mommy is just an angel :)

And yes that is me laughing in the background, I couldn't help it. Come on...you know you were laughing too! And yes I did pick her up - I'm not that mean!

Bumps & Bruises - Here We Come!

Well, let's just put it this way, Neal & I weren't sure if Ella was going to make it through this evening alive! When we got home from Ms. Lindsey's Ella played on the floor and in the new entertainment center (we're still waiting on cabinet doors). She is getting so good at pulling herself up on everything and is even starting to walk around things while she's holding on. Well I was busy in the kitchen and Neal was around the corner and we heard a really really loud BOOM! We both went running of course only to find Ella flat on her back in between the couch and coffee table with a terrified look on her face. Why is it that babies don't cry until they see your face? She had to have fallen straight back from standing up, and it must have hurt...she screamed for a good while with that one. Poor baby! :( Then about 20 -30 min. later she was in the kitchen while Neal & I were cooking dinner playing with all the stuff in one of my baskets off the bottom shelf. The next thing we know, she's doing a head stand over the top of the basket...how the heck did that even happen? You got me, I guess I was supposed to be watching. This one wasn't so bad, I think it just scared her more than anything. The next incident occurred in the dining room. She was climbing all over the chairs and pulled one over right on top of her. Dang, I think we're going to have to pay more attention to her, otherwise I'm not sure she can survive the dangers of common household items!

She had a couple more "firsts" tonight too. She had smashed up bananas and her own chicken breast. Yes, I said chicken breast, ok so it was torn into micro shreds but she loved it! I can't believe she is growing so fast and can already eat real food. Anyways, off to the bathtub - she also thinks she is too big for the baby bath chair now too. We have been just letting her sit in the tub by herself and play and it's been going really good, but now all she wants to do is stand up and play. I tried fighting with her and repeatedly sitting her back down, but she won that battle.

After her extra long bath tonight we rocked and she had her night time bottle which almost put her to sleep. We tried putting her in bed awake with the goal in mind for her to go night night by herself - well she won that one too! So I rocked to to sleep, and loved every second of it.

I was just thankful she survived her crazy, eventful evening. Now Daddy and me have some child proofing to do! Here's a picture of her sleeping so soundly, which I hope to be doing shortly.

Happy Friday!

Well I don't really have much to write about, there hasn't been much going on around my household in the past week and a half. Ella has had a little cold this week so she has been kind of grumpy, but wouldn't you be too if every time you breathed you made bubbles out of you nose with snot? The poor little thing looks and feels so lousy, I feel so sorry for her. The worst part is that all I can do for her is shoot saline up her nose and suck everything out (which I have to say I kind of enjoy seeing what I can suck out being a respiratory therapist and all!) Anyways she hates it and gives me the worst look while I'm torturing her. She hasn't been sleeping very good either, well let me rephrase that...she hasn't been sleeping at all! Finally last night she slept through the night and it was wonderful!

I took a couple of new pictures this morning so I thought I would just post them and wish you all a happy Friday!
